Has technology gone too far? What does our future hold?

Do you ever think to yourself; has technology gone too far? I mean come on! we all must have at one point. In this article, I will give my humble opinion to answer this query.

So a friend of mine, who isn’t very tech savvy asked me the question. Now I couldn’t just answer it in one word, so I decided to write an article about it.

For those of you who don’t follow my YouTube channel. I’m extremely into my technology. I love trying out new things. However, the answer can’t be as simple as saying either yes or no. We live in a world that constantly changes, with new product’s released on a yearly basis. It can be difficult to catch-up.

Why I think it has

Ok, so there are many things which I think will be or are just a bad idea. For example, I hate the idea of self-driving cars, I mean cars are fun to drive and that fun will be taken away with self-driving cars. The question you got to ask yourself is; can I trust a self-driving car not to go into the back of the car in front of me. In reality, a couple of seconds of not paying attention can lead to that too, but still, it’s the principle.

The other thing which I’m not entirely convinced about is smartwatches. I mean I understand that if your a business person or a sports person, but the question is; why on earth would you want a device that sends you half a dozen notifications on your wrist? Ok, ok you might say that they can be disabled, which in most cases they can. The second reason to why I’m not convinced is the fact that my Casio watch has a battery life of 10 Years, but my Huawei watch only lasts for 2 days.

Privacy can also be a concern, although we are being tracked so much these days that it should not be much of a concern. My biggest concern is what data some companies are collecting and doing with it.

Why I don’t think it has

We live in an age where there are so many new inventions out there that are being tried and tested. It’s important to remember that not all of these inventions that we hear about are successful. The truth of the matter is that when the inventions such as self-driving cars will be released to the public, there’s a good chance that we will be living in a new age and what we might call a car might not necessarily be called a car, but it might rely on the technology of a self-driving car.

The second reason, I don’t think that technology has gone far enough is medical science. We have yet to discover cures and new medication that could potentially save people’s lives.

The answer

Like I mentioned at the beginning I just couldn’t express the answer in one word, so I summarised it in this article.
